Streamline’s goal is simple, achieve efficiency through simplicity. With the Vision HD, that is exactly what we have done, employing only 6 buttons (each responsible for a single task). Below is a complete analysis of each of the functions found on the Vision HD.

Buttons:

To power on the system, the user pushes down and holds (for two seconds) the red power button; the only red button on the unit.
To change the station, use the right thumb to press and hold the “Ch.” button. While this button is down, the user then uses his index finger of the respective hand to either adjust the station up or down by touching the shoulder buttons. Keeping with convention, left is down and right is up.
The process for adjusting the volume is the same. By holding down the “Vol.” button, the shoulder buttons now increase or decrease the volume, respectively.

Streamline was determined to find a way to decrease user error without increasing clutter and discomfort. It has been observed that while a hold button does work, users get annoyed with constantly having to switch it on and off, and eventually don't switch it on. With our combination system, the ch., vol. and shoulder buttons do nothing when triggered separately. To add more user protection, the shoulder buttons are contact sensitive and require a finger to press them, not just pressure. The power button and the closed caption button are recessed to prevent most unwanted pressing, and require a 3-second hold before anything happens.

Indicators:

When the unit is turned on, the green indicator light above the power button will be lit.
When the closed caption button is activated, the green indicator light above the CC button will be lit.
When only 2 hours of battery life remain, the red indicator light at the bottom-left will be lit.

Streamline decided to make every action very apparent to the user. To help achieve this goal, Streamline made sure to include visible, obivous indicator lights. Red indicates a negative, where as green indicates that something has been turned on, such as the unit itself.
